MARY, MOTHER OF JESUS

I’ve always wanted to take on the beloved biblical portrait of Mary, mother of Jesus. So when I was asked to do so and with free reign to do it in my style, I quickly jumped at the opportunity. Painting the mother of Jesus as an African bald woman felt power in a way, liberating, and just right. while creating this piece, I understood the connection that many people felt when looking at her image, and sought to achieve that same effect.
